We arrived happy and in a good mood and had seen enough 5 minutes into the grounds. Visit a real zoo and tell me that I am incorrect for saying this. You plop a bunch of goats and deer in a pen mixed-in with a few other animals and expect visitors to have a good time? The money this place takes in certainly does not go into better living conditions for these animals. $15.00 per person and $6.00 for a small bucket of food pellets - way too much money for a 30 minute walk to see deplorable conditions of some very sad looking animals. Does simply petting a deer, goat and cow qualify this place to be called a "petting" zoo? Their website does not represent what you will see or experience. It's a shitzu!!!įor anyone who says this place is "wonderful" or "amazing" must not have had the pleasure of walking thru a "real" zoo because this place is NOT a zoo - it is a messy collection of various animals and it makes we wonder if they truly love what they have hidden behind the main building.

I'll be reporting them to whoever I can.Ī couple walks into a zoo - the only animal in the entire zoo is a dog. It broke my heart 3 large birds had to spend their lives trapped in those small, barren and dirty cages. They also need enrichment toys, not just the couple of old hanging ropes they had. The beautiful parrots and cockatoos needed clean water, it was skanky. The indoor cages and metal cages looked as though they are never cleaned.

Some animals had proliferation of rats in their pens/cages.

They only had hay to eat and were climbing over each other to get to the feed we were offering. Most animals had very little shade, certainly not enough for all of the animals in the pens. They do not have enough fresh water by far, and the water should be shaded, not left in the blazing sun! What little water there was for 40-50 animals, I'm sure was filthy and boiling hot in the 95 degree sun. There are too many animals in some of the pens. First, many of the animals have no grass or anything green for grazing. I was so appalled at the conditions of some of the cages/pens. It's nice that this is a rescue zoo, but if they cannot take care of the animals they have, they should not be "rescuing" more animals.
